If you had told me a few years ago that I would be running a menopause vitamin company, standing on stages talking about menopause and having conversations with women all over the country, I honestly wouldn’t have believed you.
I didn’t start the Menopause Vitamin Company because I had a big business plan.
I started it because I was struggling too.
My perimenopause journey began in my late 40s and, like so many women, I didn’t immediately realise what was happening.
My anxiety was through the roof, my sleep was awful, I had brain fog, low motivation and I felt completely exhausted. My hair, skin and body were changing too.
I was still me. I was still working (just), still showing up and still getting on with life. But I felt like I had temporarily lost sight of myself.
And I know now that so many women feel exactly the same.
I started researching everything I could about menopause and what I could do to support my body. The more I looked, the more confused I became. There were so many different supplements, ingredients and conflicting opinions.
I remember thinking, surely there must be a better way?
I wanted one product that brought together the vitamins, minerals and other ingredients I was looking for, in sensible amounts, without having to take a cupboard full of different supplements every morning.
And that was really where the idea for The Menopause Vitamin Company began.
I started developing what would eventually become Vibrancy Blend. It took a huge amount of research, learning and work to get it right, but slowly an idea that had started because of my own experience became a real product.
At first, it was something I was building alongside my career.
But as the business grew, so did my belief in what I was creating.
Eventually, I had to make a big decision.
At 51, I gave up my career and took the leap into doing this full-time. I also retrained as a non-clinical menopause wellness practitioner and founded Menopause Support Suffolk
It was terrifying.
There have been plenty of mistakes, setbacks and moments when I’ve wondered what on earth, I was doing!
But there have also been so many incredible moments.
Meeting women at events. Hearing their stories. Receiving messages from women who finally feel understood. Seeing women come back and tell me how much they love their Vibrancy Blend.
That’s what makes it all worthwhile.
Because this business has never really been about vitamins.
It’s about women.
It’s about opening up conversations, sharing better information and reminding women that menopause isn’t the end of anything.
I’m now 55 and honestly, I feel like I’m only just getting started.
My menopause journey changed my life, but it also gave me the courage to create something of my own.
And if there’s one thing I’d tell another woman going through it, it’s this:
You haven’t lost yourself. You might just have lost sight of yourself for a little while. And with a few little changes, you will find an even better version of yourself.
